I was born in South Philadelphia and grew up in the 'burbs. I love soft pretzels and cheesesteaks, the Phillies, the Eagles, and San Diego. I love being Mom, Aunt Kathy, Nona Kathy, and Teacher. I spend a lot of time in my gardens in the spring and summer, and in the winter I plan what I'm going to plant. I also am an avid reader and photographer.

Well, it's over....
I arrived at the surgery center at 8:00 and was home by 10:30. I preferred that my husband, Richard, drop me off as we live only a few miles from the hospital. I had the nurse call him when I was awake. On the way home we stopped at the Charter Deli so I could get a sandwich, a bag of chips, and a slice of chocolate cake. I was starving. I ate the club sandwich (made with only 2 slices of bread), a few of the chips, and saved the cake until another time. I feel great. This is the third time I've been at this particular ambulatory surgery center (attached to our local hospital) and each time I am so impressed by the kindness of the nurses, doctors, and staff. We are so lucky in Maryland to have such great hospitals and medical services nearby. Our hospital is an affiliate of Johns Hopkins whose primary campus is only about a 25 minute drive from here. My diverticulitis is moderate and I should be able to control it. I'm supposed to take it easy today, and will return to the gym tomorrow. Because of my past surgery, I have to be sedated for the procedure. I don't mind the anesthesia at all -- actually it's pretty great -- but I do feel a nap coming on. It's really good to have this behind me (forgive the pun).

I thought that the anesthesia was the best part of my colonoscopy experience too. Next time I'm asking for the pills. It sounds like a lot of pills, but it just has to be better than the nasty liquid that I had to drink the first time.
While this may be a new format, you are just as witty a wordster (sp?) as I remember. Thanks for sharing your point of view and your perspective on life. I have read all of your posts and subscribed to your blog via RSS feed on Google Reader.
So, do you have a 5 year reprieve now? I'm so glad your news was good. I think I have another year till my next 'procedure.' Fasting is no fun.
