About Me

My photo
I am a retired English teacher and department head, the mother of three grand mother of four, and have been married to the same man for 53 years, two years after we met at college. I taught in both middle and high schools as I really love teens and in-betweens. I was also a certified Lamaze instructor, and for a short time a volunteer chaplain at Howard County General Hospital. I am a two-time cancer survivor, ovarian (2003), and breast (2019) I was born in South Philadelphia and grew up in the 'burbs with great parents, in a bilingual household. I love soft pretzels and cheesesteaks, the Phillies, the Eagles, the Orioles, and sometimes the Ravens. I love being Mom, Aunt Kathy, Nona Kathy (Kath), and Teacher. I spend a lot of time in my gardens in the spring and summer, and in the winter I plan what I'm going to plant. I also am an avid reader, cook, photographer, lover of languages, music, and four-footed furries.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday

Well, it's (as you guessed) Sunday and I'm going for a walk but am waiting for the Motrin to kick in so I can bend my knees without moaning (it's cold, damp, and windy here -- yesterday was above 70 -- wish it would make up its mind!). We've just been shopping. Where does this "Uptown Girl" shop? Lord and Taylor? Macy's? Williams-Sonoma?, Nordstrom's? We went to CVS!!! (I think I should mention here that this is the family joke: wherever we go (The Keys, Sonoma, San Francisco, South Carolina), our visit is not official until I've been to a CVS (and Dairy Queen, but that's for another posting!)). I love the store and today I had a 25% off total order coupon and another $5.00 off; we (read, 'I') had a ball! We bought toothpaste and toothbrushes, Oil of Olay products, and lotion and two little pre-lit Christmas trees for the front step. It doesn't take much to make me happy. If only we could solve the world's problems with a visit to a chain drug store! Time for my walk.

I can relate to the knee issues!!!

It is cool to have a favorite store. We have 2 CVS drug stores within a quarter of a mile of one another.

I'm always happy when I don't find anything I want in the CVS sale paper. Funny, huh?

I like drugstore.com It has some hard-to-find things too and sales Amazon.com is good too As with brick and mortar stores, you need to comparison shop

I'm a Walgreen's fanatic! So I get it!!!

I love getting their sale ads and going to get all the goodies before they are all picked over! I'm a school supply junkie. I can't get enough folders, notebook paper, paper clips, pencils, pens...you get the drift.
