I Speak Flowers!

It usually takes me a few days of pouring over my numerous texts of flowers to get back my 'spring vocabulary' -- but I think I'm there.

In spite of chilly temperatures and no sun today, we spent most of the weekend in the backyard cleaning the flower beds -- and we finished!  And in spite of the reversion to colder temps, the perennials continue to pop through the ground: columbine, yarrow, day lilies, clematis, dicentra, and hosta are some of the latest arrivals.  Now we just have to edge.  We've ordered 40 bags of mulch to be delivered in about two weeks.

The colorscaping for the pots continues and today I also purchased two more Knock Out roses (rainbow and double pink) (These were on sale for $10.00 a piece!!), red altsromeria, a dwarf Key lime, a dwarf butterfly bush, and a few perennials.

On an angry note,  someone left a comment in Chinese on my last posting advertising porn.  So I wrote a short message back, translated it from English to Chinese and posted it on my blog.  I doubt if the SOB scum will read it, but it was the best I could do since his/her blog site didn't contain any information.  I'm not hurt -- just pissed.  This is MY place; a place where my friends and I can share ideas, console one another, laugh together, and make the world a smaller place.  The perverts are not welcome here.

And on an angrier note, I am appalled at the lack of civility that some of our citizens have shown this week about the health care bill.  I have always loved respectful discourse; that's what this country was founded on.  What they're doing is not respectful discourse and it's also not really about the health care reform.  We all know what it's about.  I can only hope they drown in their own hatred -- the sooner; the better.

I get those spam comments on my old posts all the time. That's why I had to turn comment moderation on for posts more than 3 days old. Very annoying!

It's gonna be in the 70s this week. I'm so ready.

I've been getting Chinese comments too. Not speaking Chinese, I just delete them without clicking on the links.

Yes, it does take time to get garden-speak back. I'm excited to read about the things you have sprouting. It's still a little early here . . . although my peonies are showing red buds.

Yes maam! I agree with you. Your last paragraph speaks my language. You are so right that this whole ugly mess had nothing to do with health care reform. I do not understand people that thrive on hate.

You're fortunate that your perenials are waking up. With the cold temps at night, ours are not doing anything but looking dreary.
We need Spring weather. Hopefully, it will arrive soon.

If the unacceptable comments continue, you can turn on your post moderator.

I do believe you need to jump on the back of my bike and come unwind with me.
We sat at Gilbert's or a few hours watching the boats, soaking up live music and eating a yummy lobster lunch in the Keys. Relaxing.
Then we raced back up the turnpike for home going 80 mph. WEEEE.

I haven't been around to play in my garden yet. I can't wait till it all springs back to life! You are the garden queen.

You are so much more knowledgeable and talented than I am when it comes to gardening. I have no idea what the flowers and plants I have are called. I really should get out a gardening book and study it.

I agree with your last paragraph. There is so much hatred and anger in the country. It really scares me that it is turning into violence. We need to be concerned about the terrorists here at home.

Your garden sounds as if it will be wonderful. Colour planning your pots??! I'm impressed. Post some pictures when it all comes out, won't you?

The furore over the Health Care Bill in the USA really puzzles me. What is there not to want that everyone should get health care whatever and whoever they are? We've had it since 1945 and I haven't seen the Marxists take over our Government yet ;)

(Though come to think of it, someone needs to inject a bit of sense into ALL the parties!)

Ooooh! Speak to me of flowers! I've been down with a cold for the last two weeks and have had to miss some beautiful days when I could have been out doing some spring cleaning. I have a lot to do, and inlaws coming in June for the first time in years, so I really need to get busy and make it shine!

I've been getting the Chinese spam too and others. I just delete them.

Your yard will look beautiful before too long. :-)

You sound like my kind of gardener - a real one. I know about cleaning out the beds - done, buying new plants - trying not to, and yes, I have the edging about two thirds done. I hope to finish tomorrow.
Tom has many starts from cuttings in his green house, and this week is starting seeds of tomatos, and I don't remember what else.
I have some plans for my patio pots. I'll have to wait till warmer weather to finish them.
Do you ever publish photos of your garden? I'd love to see it.

Can't wait for your gardens to bloom and see pictures of them this year. Your last two paragraphs...very well said.
