The Early Bird Catches It

For some reason I awoke at 7:00 this morning.  Not usual for me.  I got up, went downstairs, made my breakfast, started a load of wash, and ran outside in my nightgown (please don't picture this) to retrieve the towels and newspapers we'd placed on all of the plants as we had a frost. (BTW -- thank you so much National Weather Service!  I've been watching night time temperature predictions religiously so I wouldn't plant too early.  Last night's announcement was a real treat).

My husband, who works out of our home, was supposed to be home all day today as we expected a washer and dryer would be delivered.  But he wasn't here so I thought the delivery would be for another day.  I even called him -- he's doing an energy audit out in Frederick County -- he said he hadn't checked his damn messages he hadn't heard anything.  So into the bathroom I go when I hear the rumbling of a truck.  I said lots and lots of naughty words, ran to the window and there they were!!!  I threw on some clothes, greeted the young man at the door, took him to the laundry room where I had to empty the washer, clear out myriad pairs of shoes, remove stuff hanging on the wall, and lug the hamper to another room.  They looked at me timidly, but as long as neither was named 'Richard' there was no call for fear.

The young men from Bray and Scarff were so professional.  They removed the old washer and dryer, took off the door to the laundry room and replaced it, offered to vacuum before they installed the new appliances and a new dryer vent, explained their use, straightened up, gave me all my rebate information, all the while talking teaching and football with me.  My husband....well let's just say he's afraid to come home.

And when he does...watch out Richard!
Isn't that always the way. No bra on and the doorbell rings.

Isn't it nice that our days are never dull? I hope your husband will soon be able to come home.

Great story! At least you weren't IN the shower!

I laughed at your story! Doesn't it always happen. Never rely on a man, is what I say! Though you certainly got two great delivery men - hope you gave them a cup of coffee!

Hope you're enjoying your new washer and dryer. That sounds like a normal day around here. Has your husband recovered yet?

Poor Richard...

It so nice to get good service like that. I only hope all my nagging's done some good and my guys are as responsive as that!

Hilarious post Kathy. Has Richard been allowed back into the house yet and if so, is he doing a time-out in the laundry room? LOL
