The Lawn is Brown and Other Stuff....

I'm not complaining -- really.  Out at 10 this morning to run to the post office.  I've been called to jury duty, wouldn't you know it -- in the middle of our vacation.  I wrote the commissioner a short letter and sent it back pronto -- giving the dates when I can serve.  Hope they get back to me soon. Wonder if I can serve on Skype?

Okay, so anyway at 10 this morning it was already 94° and climbing -- the humidity is about 70%  (I know, I know, Jules, we're all wooses out here!).  Just hard to believe that four and a half months ago we were all up to our lovely schnutzes in snow.  I dragged the hose around to water all the pots -- everything looked so droopy -- and had to come in to shower.  Meeting a few of the women I began teaching with in 1973 for lunch, interesting conversation, and a few hoots.  We always have a good time -- heading this time to the town of Sykesville for a bite at Beck's.

Saw this church sign on Facebook:  "Honk if you love Jesus; text while driving if you want to meet Him."

I was really touched and surprised by all the 'positivity' and the support about my writing. Your kindness means a lot to me.  Blessings, Kathy

We're having the same kind of miserable weather you're having. It's miserably humid and you feel drained after being out for a short while. Our lawn is still green (for the most part) but I've been doing quite a bit of watering.
I hope you can get the dates of your jury duty changed.

Uhmmmmm I think I called you pussies, but let's not quibble over words. (Is quibble a word?) I'd better ask Dana.....

I am proud to profess, it's 113 today!! Feeling better now?

I loved the church sign and may just have to steal it. Thanks!

Be cool chica :)

We are having the same kind of weather, here in NJ. I am abit tired of the air conditioner running nonstop. I do like the fresh air, however, right now it's all humidity.

Hope you are had a great lunch w/your friends. I love ladies lunch! I think it's better than dinner out.
Stay cool.

Bless you, I remember well the hot summers in Texas. They made me physically sick. When we were choosing where to retire anywhere that had hot summers was off my list.

We're having a lovely day here, so maybe there is cooler weather heading your way (since weather systems tend to go west to east in this country).

That church sign is hilarious.

Our lawn is brown and crispy too. My thermometer said 103 around 1:30 this afternoon and still no rain.
Hope you had loads of fun with your friends at lunch. Also hope your jury duty doesn't interupt your vacation.

I've received the old 'serve jury duty' letter twice in my lifetime and both times as it turns out did not get selected or jury duty was cancelled for the day.. Whew!

Just got out my trusty converter of Fahrenhein to Centigrade - Oh my! 113 is HOT!!! Far too hot for me, I'd be long dried up and buried!! ;)

Still hot here (for the UK anyway) and now the NW of England is likely to get a hosepipe ban and an official drought declared. Would you believe it - after all that snow!!!

I'm so happy to be in a cool hotel room!

The grass was such a pretty green for a while. The good thing was that I didn't have to mow before I left town :)

I can relate to your chagrin regarding the recent temperatures. Here in Kentucky, we are enduring the same type of hot humidity. Today seemed a bit nicer, but I was still pretty drenched after a couple of errands. Enjoyed your post!

I'm doing some catching up. Congratulations on the completion of two books!
We've complained about our dark wet, cold spring, but days of 65 to 75, like we're having now, are perfect. I feel your misery with the heat.
