Total and Unadulterated Avoidance

Okay, I'm overwhelmed.  That's why I'm sitting here instead of packing.  It's called avoidance and I'm knee-deep in it.  I've been following the 10-day weather for our port cities and it seems this time of year is transitional -- most of the day time highs will be in the mid-sixties w/ lows in the 40s.  So maybe that means I should just pack everything?

One thing is for sure:  I NEED TO CLEAN OUT MY CLOSET!!  There's a lot of stuff I never wear in there.   Since I retired I tend to wear the same things; I dress for comfort.  Who am I kidding?  I dressed for comfort when I taught, too.  Focus, Kathy, FOCUS!

Last night the baby joined us for dinner while her mother went to the gym.  She was a whirling dervish alternately eating bow tie macaroni and climbing all over her chair.  At one point she picked up a dinner roll, put it to her ear, and said, "I hear waves, Poppy.  Listen."  Richard and I can't remember what we ate.  Or if we ate.  We told her she needed to sit on her chair -- several times -- and said if she didn't she'd have to do a 'time out.'  She said happily, "Okay!" and ran to the time out spot, from where she smiled and waved to me and called, "Look, Kath, I'm in time out!"  Richard looked at me; I at him, and he went and got her.

I want to say  hello and get well really soon to Maggie at Postcards . Stop by her blog and give a wave if you can.

Okay, ENOUGH!  Back to the closet/suitcase.  Or maybe I'll make myself a cup of tea and some brownies...Those windows could use cleaning...

It's a pain to pack for warm and cool weather - what to take! Layers, Kathy, layers. So, if you are missing something, you'll buy a souvenier. RELAX! (haha - like I know how to do that!)

What a hoot! I remember those meals with the grandkids when they were very young. But I don't think I laughed then like I laughed at your tale.
As for packing, definately layers. And yes, I need to clean my closet out again too. For a while I operated under the rule - add something, take something away- but now I'm hoarding old tee shirts again, so I have the home and garden ones with spots and the spot free go-out-in-public tees. Tee-otally too many.

It's always hard to know what to pack for a trip, isn't it??? We are going to Alaska next May --and I'm already wondering what to take...

Your grandbaby is a 'ring-tail-tooter'.... As cute as they are, someone had better get a handle on her..... Yipes!!!! I'm sure it's okay though when she's at Gramma's house!!!! ha

Hugs,
Betsy

I laughed. You sound as disjointed this morning as I do most any morning. Hope the day settles down and goes smoothly for you.

Definitely make the brownies. Then, when you figure out you can't eat them all and can't take them with you on the trip, you can send them to me. :D

I am a sucker for good homemade brownies. (Add nuts please. As if I weren't nuts enough as it is.)

Life is never dull with a little one around, is it? I don't envy you having to decide what to take on your ten-day cruise. I've learned that no matter what I decide to take -- it's wrong, so I leave that up to Betsy.

It's difficult to pack for transitional weather, however, layers are the key. Keep checking the weather; Maine this time of year could be very cool. I'd still pack for layering. Good Luck!

Oh my God, your grand daughter is so funny. I hate packing even if I am going to one climate! Sounds like layers is the way to go.

Just popped over from Betsy's blog, and I see that we seem to have a good bit in common. First, I wish I were going on a cruise...we took g'daughter last year for her tenth birthday...to Bermuda, and got chased around a bit by hurricane Bill. Anyway, Looking through your posts has been fun!

Isn't it amazing how we can have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear. As everyone has suggested - take layers. Or maybe just buy what you need as you go.

Your grand daughter sounds like she has you and Richard wrapped around her little finger. I bet she is adorable.

I packed everything! And mostly used it! You never know!

If you haven't worn it for 18 months, chuck it out! Then go and make those brownies!
