A Workout, Igor, and a Couple of Horses

I'm feeling a little better every day. I'm also really appreciative of all your get well wishes, cards, and gifts -- all that positive stuff really does help.   Today I returned to the gym for a workout -- a truncated one as per doctor's orders, but a good one nonetheless.  I did a half hour of cardio -- 20 minutes on the elliptical and 10 on a bike.  Got my heart rate up there and worked up a nice sweat.  It felt good.  I won't be doing weights for another couple of weeks, though.

My 'job' this week is to recuperate as best I can so we can go on our cruise that leaves next week for Nova Scotia.  We're excited and also hopeful that Igor, his category 5 self, and any hurricane siblings of his will leave us all alone.  I'm getting a prescription for scopolamine patches just in case.  I've also been watching the West Coast of Africa as it's been spitting out one system after another.  If I were to go back to school, I'd get another degree in meteorology or marine science -- or maybe both.

Youngest daughter has been at her new job for over a month now, and frankly she's happier than a pig in slop.  She's up to her schnutz in horses and loving it.  Saturday they participated in a fox hunt (foxhunts in this country are such that the fox is 'hunted', but left unscathed).  Here she is -- first alone and then with her new boss:  they're the ones on top. :)

Oh Kathy, I'm so glad to hear that you are feeling better.... Keep on doing what you need to do to get well.. And do something which is hard for me: be PATIENT... ha

Your cruise sounds marvelous. We are planning a summer cruise to Alaska next year... Hope you can take tons of pictures to share with us.

Congrats to your beautiful daughter. Glad she is so happy!

Hugs and Prayers for your total recovery.

Your daughter looks thrilled! And those horses are two of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen. WOW!

That must be some job. Getting to go fox hunting and get paid for it? Good for her.

It's always nice to get back to the gym and get back into the routine. I was looking at the pics of Igor from outer space on the news tonight. That's a HUGE storm. Hope he heads back out to open seas and doesn't come close to North America.

I'm pleased you are getting better. Any sort of surgey is an invasion of your body, so take it easy now!!

I sincerely hope you have fine weather for your cruise. Read my blog and you will find the perils of the sea!

Nova Scotia sounds wonderful!

Glad to hear progress is being made on the recuperation front. I'm sure that workout did wonders for the feeling of getting back on the road to normal. I didn't realize fox hunting was still around - very cool!

Glad you're better. And I don't know who I'm the most envious of: you or your daughter. Have always wanted to go to Nova Scotia. I know it's beautiful and I could research some of my Acadian ancestors. And: I was born loving horses. Got a horse when I was a teen. Those were the best years of my life.

It's good news that you were able to get back to the gym -- just don't overdo it! Now if only Igor will cooperate for your cruise!
Your daughter looks very happy up on her horse. I'm glad she likes her new job.

Wooohw Kathy, I like your (new?) blog lay-out!! Just wanted to say that your question (my waterdrops post) has kept me thinking for a few days. I've even discussed it with my hubby, but we still haven't figured out an answer that satisfies the both of us. Hm....maybe you can??!! And yes, Lake Como looks a bit like Lake Garda...when will you come and visit them?? Have a wonderful day, XXX, Carmie.

Feel better Kathy. How are you supposed to go cruising if you don't? Don't worry about any silly old Category 4 or 5's. Right. I am just glad they are steering clear of Florida for a change.
