Bad Kathy or Get Off Your Bloomin' Arse!

I don't understand it.  For the past few days, I've had to take it  easy -- as I'm just not feeling great.  I think it might be a bit of a stomach bug -- no fever, no chills just lethargy and stomach stuff.  And even though the Christmas cards are sent, the cookies are baked, the house decorated inside and out, the presents purchased, the party given, I feel guilty/bad/a nagging insistence that I should be cleaning baseboards, painting the laundry room, building houses for the homeless, washing floors, collecting for the Salvation Army, or cleaning out closets.

Why can't I cut myself a break?  It annoys me that I just want to sit and drink ginger ale and read The Lacuna  (which, by the way, I'm really having trouble getting into -- sorry Barbara Kingsolver, your other books are immediately engaging), a choice for one of the book clubs.  I feel like I should be doing something -- anything...

Give yourself some slack and take time to heal your body. Think back to all the things you've been doing. It is alot! Your body may be telling you to slow down into first gear.
Sip that ginger ale and read. Your body will eventually thank you for it.

Listen to your body. It thinks you need a break.

Relax and give yourself a break. Your body is telling you something - listen to it. :-)

What is it with this constant guilt or need or whatever it is that makes us feel lake slackers when we slow down? I was hoping that when I retire, some of that would disappear. Anyway, it's winter, it's cold, your prepared...relax a little! We've all given you official permission!

I hope you're feeling better! Relaxing is fine. I wish I had more time for it. I'd say just go with it. You'll be busy again soon.

Nope, you shouldn't be. Sounds like you are ready for Christmas, so what better time to rest up and be ready to celebrate. I did the same thing today, except when I was packing. today was my last chance for a slow day. Tomorrow we fly away.
The Lacuna is a slow start, but once I got used to the timing and the changes in time and setting and cast of characters, I found it to be a fascinating read. Stick with it.

Yes, you should be doing something. You should be resting, taking it easy, napping, reading, anything except working. Hope you fell better soon!

I think you're being too hard on yourself. Relax and enjoy the holidays.
I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas.

You are sounding like me! Not knowing how to relax. Here's a thought - you seem to be able to relax just fine when you are on vacation. Well, YOU ARE ON VACATION!! Relax!!

I know a little something about lethargy, and it's not always a bad thing. Relax. Drink hot cocoa and read in front of the fire. You're farther ahead with Christmas preparations than I am!

You need to relax before the Holidays. I am sure you will be up and running busy in a couple of days.

Guilt is such a terrible waste of time.

You are allowed to put your feet up and rest...especially when you have been doing many things around the house. But anytime you feel the need is okay, no guilt allowed! lolol The holidays can be so hectic that anytime you have the chance to rest you should.

I have heard that about The Lacuna. I haven't tried reading it myself yet. Maybe you should read something more enjoyable, a little more relaxing, easier to get into.

No worries, no guilt. That's an order! :o)
