Did Anyone Get the Number of That Bus?

I've been sitting here at my computer with a heating pad between my lower back and my chair for two days now.  Initially I thought maybe I had pulled a muscle at the gym on Monday, but the pain does not respond to gentle stretching, Tylenol, or ibuprofen and just differs from pain caused by an injury.

Then Melissa called and asked if we could come over and help with the baby.  Daughter had a fever, horrible lower back pain, and nausea.  (Ah ha!) So we drove over, carrying ginger tea, ibuprofen, and a case of ginger ale.

Melissa looked like she's been hit by a bus and dragged a block or two and unfortunately, didn't feel any better than she looked.   Hobbling around, I fixed her a cup of the ginger tea (she hated it -- I love the stuff -- negates nausea almost immediately), put her in bed, emptied the dishwasher, cleaned up the kitchen, and recorded Glee for when she feels better.  (Yes, I love Glee -- please don't judge ).

Meanwhile, Poppy sat with Ariana reading books and talking.  At one point, he'd closed his eyes for a minute.  (We all know why only the young should have children).  Ariana counted, "One, two, three, WAKE UP POPPY!!!"  And then, "I DID IT!!  I WOKE POPPY UP!!"  Startled, he sat upright.   I asked him if he wanted me to call 911; he's a real trooper.

We left after putting the little one to bed. She assured us and her mommy "Everything's going to be all right; it's okay, Mommy".   Melissa is feeling a little better today.  But our backs are still painful. Strange...

Hmmmmm--strange that you both have picked up something, maybe a 'bug' of some kind... Hope you and your daughter both feel better soon. Hope the little one doesn't get it too!!!!!

Take care, Kathy, and get well SOON.
Hugs,
Betsy

Maybe the heat is making the back worse?

Hope you're feeling better.

While the heat on your back probably feels good, you should probably be using ice packs.
So you think the back pain could be the result of a virus. Strange.
I do know that grandchildren are hard on the back, but very good for the heart.

Stopped by your place today and so sorry that your family is not feeling well...HOPE THEY ALL ARE BETTER SOON. Back aches are the pits. Ice usually helps when my back hurts. Take care...tomorrow will be a brighter day.
Blessings,
Shug

I hope all of you are soon feeling better. It is interesting that both you and your daughter have back pains, but I have no idea what could be causing it. I'm glad you didn't have to call 911 for Poppy.

Sigh... I wish we could do the same for our daughter. You guys are definitely lifesavers for Melissa. I'll bet Ariana loved having you two over to help mommmy.

That is strange you both have the back pain. Hope the two of you are feeling better real soon.

Although I'm not a real fan of chiropractors, I have been known to make a visit or two. It usually helps...but many times I use just ice packs and skip the chiro and my time to heal is just about the same. Amazing, isn't it?! ;)

Oh Kathy!
So glad to hear that you love GLEE!!! Oh my gosh, did you catch any of the marathon last weekend? We hibernated on the couch and since I didn't feel well I didn't feel a bit guilty. We have not watched Sunday's episode or last night so we'll have something to look forward to.
I hope you feel better as your daughter with your back...back pain is the worst!
I'm feeling a tad better; two more days until the weekend..However, I doubt anyone even missed me with Miss Angel-Kitty filling in for me!
:)

Hope you feel better soon. You didn't get the flu, but maybe the back pain is a side effect of it. Seems like it's part of your daughter's symptoms.
I hope you feel better soon!

Kathy, I'm sorry you got hit by that bus! I do hope that you are feeling better this evening. It is strange that both you and your daughter have the same symptoms. Take care.

I hope both you and Melissa are feeling better. Must be a new virus - the lower back bug.

I hope that the back pain has subsided for both you and your daughter. So nice that you were able to go and pinch-hit for *Mommy* for the day. Nice that Granpa managed to catch a few zzzzz's before nearly having a heart-attack! So sweet that Ariana was reassuring all of you that things were going to be O.K. (Little ones worry too)
Take good care Kathy.

With a beautiful little girl like that in your life, it probably helps make you feel better to some degree.

You are absolutely correct about the ginger and nasuea by the way!

"We all know why only the young should have children." Truer words were never spoken...I live them every weekend with my hyperkinetic grandchildren!

I agree, ginger is great! But not for back pain - oh I feel for you there!

Oh my... Hope that today, Valentine's Day that everyone is doing much better. Being sick always makes me feel like it's such a time waster. Sometimes though you just have to give into it to get over it. Take care!!
