Like many on the NFL mailing list, I received an email from Roger Goodell about his work with the players' union and their walking out of negotiations.
Goodell writes, "While we are disappointed with the union's actions, we remain steadfastly committed to reaching an agreement that serves the best interest of NFL players, clubs and fans, and thank you for your continued support of our League. First and foremost it is your passion for the game that drives us all, and we will not lose sight of this as we continue to work for a deal that works for everyone."
Well Roger, you've really missed the boat. The people you ALL should be apologizing to are not the players, the club owners, or the fans. Who you should be apologizing profusely to are all those who will be financially devastated by this exercise in petulance -- from the ticket takers who work for minimum wage, the food vendors, the small businesses who provide the cups and plates, to those just getting by and are able to put food on their tables by providing services when the games are played -- those often forgotten in these million dollar deals. These are the people from whom you should be begging forgiveness. Frankly, you, the players' union, all of you should be ashamed of yourselves.

BRAVO!!!
Those people who you just talked about come right after the fans on the list of people the NFL and the players don't give a crap about.
I agree. I don't watch football, but I do feel for the people who will lose their jobs because of this disagreement.
Oh, well said.
Very well said!!!
Well said indeed.
Great point! I truly think that once an athlete or anyone who rises to the upper echelon of financial success has NO CONCEPT of what it means to struggle and put food on the table for your family. NOR do they care...it is all about them and how rich they can be and how much more money they can make ...it infuriates me!
I'll bet there was a note on the email *Do Not Respond To This Message* Too bad because Mr. Goodell really should see your response. Perhaps a letter to the editor from you is in order. Just cut and paste your blog post and hit send.
Amen.
All so true.
I'm not much of a sports follower, but I have been stealthily following your blog and it's time to say "hello." I enjoy your writing.
Absolutely on target! I have no sympathy for players and owners who make tens of millions and yet are willing to strike and quibble in order to get more. Stick with dancing...the people are much more reasonable.
Amen Kathy... That was well-said!!!! All of the bigshots (owners, players, etc.) are ALL about more MONEY... Nothing else matters to them--especially the little people who work at the stadiums....
Hugs,
Betsy
