And Speaking of Narcissism

We were able to vacation early this year.  The first week of June we drove down to Siesta Key, near Sarasota and spent a lovely week in a condo on the beach.  A nice way to celebrate my 60th birthday.  :)  Yes, 60.  I can't believe it; I really can't.  Richard did us both a favor by taking all the sharp objects out of the condo.  I spent most of the day like this...
Under a hat and smeared with 70 SPF and up to my neck in the Gulf of Mexico, refusing to come out of the water.

The rest of the day I spent on the phone with my doctor getting a prescription for diverticulitis that found me on that same day.  Yes, I really know how to have a good time.  :)

I got more upset when I turned 50 than when I turned 60 this past spring. You looked good in that hat in the water.

Believe me, at 60 you're still a kid. I think you found the perfect way to beat the heat. I hope you're feeling better now.

Just catching up on your blog posts... Glad you enjoyed your trip --but sorry about the Diverticulitis.....

Sorry also about your bad experience with Royal Caribbean. Hope you wrote the big-shots in that company. You are right. They COULD have handled it much better... GADS!

How's your weight program going? George and I both lost a little weight on our 3 week vacation... Amazing!!!! I've lost about 13.5 pounds in a little over 2 months... I'm happy with that. Losing it slowly will help me keep it off.

Hugs,
Betsy

Hope you are feeling better now!

Did you know that we have become so paranoid about covering ourselves with sunblock that we are lacking Vitamin D - sometimes dangerously so??

Can't win, can we??

I have the same looking hat! Happy Belated Birthday. I am glad you had a good time, but I am also sorry you became sick. Life is unpredictable sometimes.

Great picture! And I can completely relate to the part about "under a hat and smeared with 70 SPF" ... I'm paying now for years of sunburns. If they made 7,500 SPF sunblock, I'd use it...and you will never see a picture of me in my silly, floppy fisherman's hat that keeps Mr Sun off my ears. There are some things man just wasn't intended to see...

Congratulation on reaching a milestone. Happy birthday to you, and I hope you have many more. I love your photo. I'm sorry about being visited by diverticulitis. I actually also had an attack a few days ago also and ended up having to visit the doc. Not fun.

P.S. Please disregard all the incomplete sentences. They sentiment they express are sincere. :)

Happy belated 60th birthday. So nice of your husband to remove all the sharp objects, LOL.
Looks like you enjoyed a wonderful time in June.

60 was a milestone for me. I guess I'm really grown up now. I'm sorry to hear about your diverticulitis. I've heard how painful it is. They do always tell you that age is just a number. It's how you feel in your heart that counts. I do keep trying to remember that.

Happy Belated Birthday, Kathy! You're still a "youngster" as far as I'm concerned. Hope you're feeling better by now. Several of my husband's family live in Sarasota. It's a beautiful area.
