At Least There Are No Stink Bugs

It's been a few weeks -- maybe a month -- that I was able to pull up all the blogs I follow and comment.  My computer allows me to do one or two and then blocks EVERYTHING!   I suspect it's something in the security settings of my computer.  I've not been able to detect exactly where, but believe me it is a  pain in the ass.  Bloggerland is not the only place I'm having trouble, it's now stopping me from accessing a few of my other favorite sites.  Time to call in a nerd...

We had snow yesterday, but no appreciable accumulation.  Our daughter, however, who lives only 10 minutes north of here had about 3".  Go figure.  Everyone says this is a harbinger of things to come.  Certainly the people in states north of here who are digging their way out are wondering.   I'm not so sure.  I tend to think this will be a mild winter.  Why?  Two reasons:  the law of averages says we're due one, and more importantly, we had 2 cords of wood delivered.

Yesterday was fun, though, as we found ourselves getting into the Christmas spirit -- never mind that  the impatiens are still blooming (albeit snow-covered) and the leaves are still on the trees and haven't even changed color, yet.  Today, by the way, is GLORIOUS -- gorgeous blue, cloudless skies and about 39°.  And yes, we have fires going...

This evening we're attending a home concert -- something offered in our area.  These are fun.  The host engages an artist and invites 20 couples to dinner (everyone brings something to share) and a concert for a nominal fee.  We've heard some great artists and met some very nice people.  Tonight I'm bringing "Outrageous Brownies" -- a Barefoot Contessa recipe that is off the charts.  It calls for a pound of butter and about two and a half pounds of chocolate -- and a side of insulin.  People usually love these and I'm hoping to bring home an empty tray.  Wish you could join us.

I love the idea of these home concerts and I'm pretty sure you will be bringing home an empty plate! Hoping you get your computer glitches sorted out.
I heard that the months of Nov and Dec are going to be mild here but Jan & Feb are going to make up for it! You may be using both cords of wood.

I too have been judging the weather prediction on the amount of stink bugs sneaking their way into the house. Last year they were horrible...this summer and fall, not many at all. Hopin' for a mild winter.

We received approximately 6" of the white stuff. As pretty as it looks, I am still on Aruba time. I want to be under the warm sun and in the water. Oh well...a girl can dream.
Glad to see you online again. Have fun at the concert gathering.

So glad to have you back blogging - missed you! Supposedly when the first snow falls on unfrozen ground the winter will be mild. That goes along with your efforts to justify hopes for a mild one.

I'm so sorry you're having computer trouble. It really is aggravating when that happens. I miss my son-in-law who is the Super Techie in our family.

I'm sure I would just love your outrageous brownies, even without the insulin. I'm glad you're enjoying your firewood. We had a fire going all weekend. It was nice, even without snow.
I hope you can get your computer problem fixed without too much hassle.

I've missed you! I hate when computers give us fits. I honestly don't know what I'd do if my started acting up.

Snow on the roses, impatiens, and frost on pumpkin is always a rude awakening for me. I am never ready for it.

How fun your concert sounds. And, the brownies, well they truly do sound outrageous.

Love the concept of the home concerts. Sounds like lots of fun! Hope you get your computer operating correctly. I've been nursing my desktop along for a year now.

Have a nice Holloween!

I love the idea of a home concert. I bet the brownies were to die for. Wow!

We didn't get any snow. None. So strange. Aren't you so glad we don't live where they got 9 or more inches?

We need to make plans!
