I don't get up right away in the mornings. Sometimes I snuggle down in my nest and just think of things. It's when I process 'stuff' and ideas come to me: the blogs I've read the day before; the unspoken in a conversation; the intent of something said; the idea for a poem, a letter, a blog; mornings spent on the Sarasota/Siesta Key beach; friends we'd like to get together with... Retirement has afforded me the luxury of these thoughtful moments.
The last of my roses...
Our maple tree has finally turned color...
And a mourning dove above...

Don't you just love that you can have that quiet time in your bed in the morning. I think it is one of the great blessings of retirement.
Loved you roses, the tree, and the dove.
I think those thoughts on my morning walks. It is nice to have a special time of the day all to ourselves. : )
Your morning routine sounds pretty nice to me. That's one of the advantages of being retired.
Your roses were beautiful to the end.
Glad your roses did so well this year, Kathy. I have a bowl full of ours in the house now... Temps are supposed to go down into the 20's tomorrow night... SO--this is the end of ours also.
Our morning routines are similar. This life of retirement is pretty special, isn't it????
Hugs,
Betsy
I like that you act on some of your thoughts.
Hope all is well with you.
I am so glad you are able to enjoy your retirement. Love your pictures.
Beautiful roses!
I often try to plan out my day in my head before getting out of bed in the morning. Of course, I will often go back to sleep before I get very far.
Such beautiful roses.
Yes, morning is wonderful for retirees. If i get up for a moment around 5 AM, I look out the window and see passing cars--people already on the way to work, probably sipping coffee to wake themselves up.
I love it that retirement has afforded me the time to do this also. I do miss my classroom, but I love having these quiet moments of peace more often.
I am usually torn by having a slow morning and wanting to get up and get going. Each morning is usually a compromise with my opposing natures.
I too have the luxury of a *retiree* morning which is lovely and most appreciated. Especially so as the older I get, the earlier I seem to awaken!
Lovely pictures, lovely thoughts.
ahhh, I look forward to Saturday and Sunday for that exact reading...I don't even need to have my eyes open to 'process' my thoughts and that is even more lovely!
those two chairs look very cozy :)
You guys are having a much prettier fall than we are here. Most of our leaves just fell off or turned brown because of no rain and it has been such a warm fall. Kind of a bummer of a fall here this year.

Sounds so wonderful and peaceful to wake up every day so slowly! Love it. I felt relaxed just reading your post!!
Your roses are just beautiful!
Your own private thinking time - sounds good to me, Kathy. Your fall changes are beautiful. I'm in white here in CO.
Hmm! We may be retired, but we have A DOG. Who has to be let out rather early. Oh well, its lovely in the summer, when the sun is shining, the birds are singing.......
Not so nice these dark winter mornings!
Love your maple, but your head picture does seem to be knee deep in leaves!!
That's a wonderful way to start the morning, Kathy!
Thank you for these photos, they're so pretty! I love your blog header photo, too. It doesn't always do this but for some reason today, the photo is really large and I'm able to scroll half a page to the right to see more of it and the same up and down. I love this because it's such a lovely picture of the Fall season!
