And We're Off!!!

We enjoyed a lovely Christmas -- especially Christmas Eve when we gathered at son and DILs home for lasagna, presents, chaos, and Italian cookies. Christmas Day was quieter; we stopped in to see Ariana and give her some presents Santa had left for her at our house.  I spent most of that time wiping her schnooky nose and playing with her new fairy house.

On Monday, I went to the gym had a fantastic workout in spite of my misbehaving  knee, came home, made chicken piccata, cleaned up, and sneezed about 20 times....Hmmm, never done that before.  Then I started to cough -- just a little at first.  By 12:00 AM I had a fever of 102.5°, was shaking with chills and suffering from body aches.  It seems that little, schnooky-nosed elf had brought me the flu.

A week and a half and two postponed surgery dates later.  I'm still here with the remnants of a cough and a sinus infection.  Let's just say I'm able to get a lot of reading done.  Did I mention on New Year's Eve I was in bed by 7:30?  I waited as long as I could.

The surgery has been re-scheduled for Thursday.  Whether I make it or not is anyone's guess.

Oh my! Well...at least you got through Christmas without getting sick. Sorry about coming down with that cold for New Years and having to reschedule your surgery. Here's hoping that you get in on Thursday and all goes well. All the best to you, especially for good health in the New Year.

Poor Kathy.... I hope you continue to feel better --so that you can get that needed surgery... Bless Your Heart.

Snow here today--and it was 14 degrees this morning when we got up... Brrrrrrr.
Hugs,
Betsy

Our grandson shared his flu with us in the fall. Bob, of course, wound up in the hospital with pneumonia. I felt awful for days. It took a while to go away. I guess that's to be expected for grandchildren and grandparents.

Hope your surgery goes well. I also have a bad left knee but nobody seems to know why I have it. It seems to be coming from my back and down my left leg. I don't intend to have back surgery so I suppose I'll keep living with it. It doesn't hurt all the time.

Kathy - so glad to see you are blogging again. My last blog was sometime in July. Oh well. My Muse will come to me again eventually.

I hope you get rid of that sinus infection soon. Did your husband also get the flu? Hope not.

I don't know about the upcoming surgery, however, I wish you the best. Maybe it's one of your knees?

Blessings to you in 2012 Kathy!

Oh my goodness, so sorry to hear you've been so sick.
I was wondering if you'd had your surgery yet. Hope and pray all goes well Thursday.

Oh no. Well, if it's surgery you're postponing, and not some wonderful trip to some exotic destination, I guess you can put up with it. Best wishes for wellness and recovery.

I think the American contingent brought those flu germs to Portugal and started an international incident! Hope you feel better soon!

Sound like little Ariana gave you a present to remember her by! :)
Best wishes for your surgery!.... I've been playing catchup reading posts and may have missed it, but I hope this is something that wasn't a problem to postpone.
Happy New Year!

My brother, sister-in-law and nephew came over for new years with colds. I don't know if I totally believe it works, but my mom and I both took Airborne. I'm OK with the placebo effect too. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed.

That sucks you got the flu. I got my flu shot back in October. Hopefully I'll avoid it this year. Hope you're feeling better!

Bit late catching you up, but I hope everything went well, and you are feeling fine by now.

Take care of yourself - I'm thinking of you.

Considering that I'm reading this post on Friday, I assume the knee surgery went off as scheduled. Is everything okay? When can we go dancing?

Oh, my, what a loving way to get an ugly disease. I confess that I now avoid folks with colds and flu like the plague. I haven't got time to lose six months to a virus.

I so hope the surgery goes well. We will be hear eagerly waiting for the news.

Well, I'll be waiting to hear how the surgery goes and in the meantime, get over the flu and take good care of yourself...
