Searching for Pizza or Sunday in Naples

After we left Tuscany, our ship docked in Rome  --  We stayed on board that day.  The next day we docked in Naples and decided to walk the city on our own -- searching for the pizza mentioned in Eat, Pray, Love that the author raves about.

It began cloudy, but the sun peaked through a couple of times.    We couldn't understand why all the streets were roped off.  A man stopped us to tell us where we could walk -- people there were so very kind -- they would just come up to us and share their favorite parts of the city.  Anyhoodle (as my friend Jay would say), it turns out Naples was hosting a marathon.  It was fun being in the middle of all this commotion.  We really felt more like Napalitanos than tourists.

This is the famed Spanish sector.

Pasta!!!!

An Italian dog-walker...

We finally found the pizza place:  L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele.  It was good, but not the best we've ever had.

One of the many beautiful churches we visited.

After walking for three hours, the ship was a welcome sight!  Time for the hot tub!!!

Looks like a lot of fun. The guys in the pizzeria look none too busy, I'd expect the place to be more crowded with the literary reference and all!

When I saw your title my immediate thought was, good luck! It is hard to find anything open here on a Sunday, so I thought you might have the same "luck" or lack there of. So, did I miss the story of the new profile picture? Did you rappel??!!

You are my kind of gal - searching for the food mentioned in a book! I was eagerly reading to see if you REALLY liked it - funny! I liked the photos of the city.

Your trip sounded awesome, Kathy... I would love to visit those places sometime. Visiting all of the churches/cathedrals and all of the castles would be tremendous...

Love your header.
Hugs,
Betsy
