I am a retired English teacher and department head, the mother of three grand mother of four, and have been married to the same man for 53 years, two years after we met at college. I taught in both middle and high schools as I really love teens and in-betweens. I was also a certified Lamaze instructor, and for a short time a volunteer chaplain at Howard County General Hospital. I am a two-time cancer survivor, ovarian (2003), and breast (2019) I was born in South Philadelphia and grew up in the 'burbs with great parents, in a bilingual household. I love soft pretzels and cheesesteaks, the Phillies, the Eagles, the Orioles, and sometimes the Ravens. I love being Mom, Aunt Kathy, Nona Kathy (Kath), and Teacher. I spend a lot of time in my gardens in the spring and summer, and in the winter I plan what I'm going to plant. I also am an avid reader, cook, photographer, lover of languages, music, and four-footed furries.

Waiting for Godot...And Spring...

That baby is sleeping so I have a few minutes.  When he awakens, I'll give him lunch, but there will be no walk today.  It's windy and cold, although relatively clear, and we still have a lot of snow.

Everyone is amazed at the weather and hoping for spring temps, including me.  I'll try to remember this when we're suffering with 90° + temps and equal humidity.  The DC Cherry Blossom Festival has been pushed back about a week or so and this morning I noticed that it's colder in Atlanta than it is here!  Crazy!

This is what we woke up to yesterday...

It was standing room only at the bird feeders...

And our back yard was far from welcoming...

Sitting on the patio would have been a bit uncomfortable...

But inside, the herbs and amaryllis are thriving, the lemon tree is full of blossoms, the Key lime is happy, and the clivia is blooming.

You have lots of snow! Ours is just about gone! I was able to sit outside on the deck today when the sun was out!

Lemon tree very pretty!

Those poor birds! We had snow here as well, despite a couple of days of spring like weather last week. It snowed on Easter last year, so I'm expecting such again this year.

I noticed that your plum blossoms were blooming from the photos my kids sent me from D.C. when they were doing the half marathon.

We've had snow, ice and biting cold winds too! Where has spring gone??? Unfortunately our living room and kitchen both face east - nice in the mornings, but the sun soon goes round, and we begin to feel the chill.

I've had enough of winter!!

I didn't like snow in New York, and prefer sunshine in Hawaii. Happy Easter, Kathy! We will be celebrating at my aunt's home.
