- I am a retired English teacher and department head, the mother of three grand mother of four, and have been married to the same man for 53 years, two years after we met at college. I taught in both middle and high schools as I really love teens and in-betweens. I was also a certified Lamaze instructor, and for a short time a volunteer chaplain at Howard County General Hospital. I am a two-time cancer survivor, ovarian (2003), and breast (2019) I was born in South Philadelphia and grew up in the 'burbs with great parents, in a bilingual household. I love soft pretzels and cheesesteaks, the Phillies, the Eagles, the Orioles, and sometimes the Ravens. I love being Mom, Aunt Kathy, Nona Kathy (Kath), and Teacher. I spend a lot of time in my gardens in the spring and summer, and in the winter I plan what I'm going to plant. I also am an avid reader, cook, photographer, lover of languages, music, and four-footed furries.

He Didn't Mean To Bite Him?
My youngest brother was an on air reporter for a number of years in West Virginia, Roanoke, Richmond, and finally Atlanta. He was respectful of people's privacy which gained him friendships and access otherwise refused to other reporters. When Evander Holyfield was bitten by Mike Tyson, my brother was the only reporter invited into Holyfield's home. Jay arrived by helicopter, flying over all those encamped outside the gates. Jay says their gestures indicated they were not happy. When the story went national, Jay appeared at Holyfield's side.

A PSA shot in Dallas
My younger brother has a media production company. They do a lot of public relations, commercials, and publicist -type things.
A few months ago, he shot a Public Service Announcement (PSA) with former Dallas Cowboys' coach, Jimmy Johnson. The PSA is about responsible drinking and was to feature Johnson and the Lingerie Team (shown above).
Whenthe sponsor everyone noticed what the 'team' planned to wear, Jay, my brother, was 'elected' to be the one to tell them that they couldn't be in the commercial. The look on his face is priceless. The girls took the disappointment well. Jay was able to shoot the PSA with extras made up of family and passersby.
