It's been really warm, but after this winter I will not complain. I'm embracing the heat! Today is the longest day of the year. Do you all remember mention of this in Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby? Daisy Buchanan says she anticipates the longest day of the year, but it always seems to escape her. Daisy came across as a ditz, but she was stupid like a fox. But, I digress. We're going to sit outside tonight and enjoy daylight as long as we can. Perhaps with a glass of wine or a cup of tea.
We had a lovely day yesterday -- hadn't had a cookout in so long. It was fun sitting around the table with our Off© lanterns burning, reliving memories, laughing. We enjoyed this so much that Husband and I have decided to try to do more barbecues. And you're all invited. The only downer of the day was that Youngest Daughter wasn't there.
Here are photos of our girls, minus one: From left to right: DIL, grandaughters, and Middle Child.
The grand daughters took themselves for a spin. The little one finally realized if she put her foot down, she made the Barbie Jeep go. The problem is that she doesn't yet understand the concept of steering, but she was happy to have her older cousin do the driving.
