The surgery (laparoscopic) went well and I'm finally free of that pesky, stone filled gall bladder. It took a little longer than expected from all the scar tissue and my surgeon said I should feel really sore for a few days. At least that's what I
remember hearing. I do know the pain is more than I had anticipated. Because I had general anesthesia, intubation was necessary so I also have a bit of a sore throat. I'm walking around (for every day one stays bedridden, it takes two days longer to regain strength), taking frequent naps, snacking on Trader Joe's oyster crackers and drinking ginger ale. Right now I'm depending mostly on Tylenol and an ice pack. I'm saving the heavy stuff for night time.
I've said it before: nurses are angels. They were kind, expert in their ministrations, patient, and concerned.
I did some yoga before the surgery and will be doing what I can today and tomorrow (without hurting myself) to help the healing.
Meanwhile, I'll be thinking of me neck-deep in an 89° Gulf of Mexico. That'll help, too. Namaste, Kathy
