Too Many Catalogs?

Our mail is not delivered to our home, but to a carousel down the street that services about 15 houses.  If we miss a day (or six) the mail is taken back to the main post office where we must go and pick it up.  One of the reasons our box fills so quickly is because of all the junk mail and catalogs that are sent to us and the ubiquitous "Occupant".

Did you know that there is relief in the form of www.catalogchoice.org?  All one does is log onto the site, and follow the prompt to find the and eliminate catalogs you no longer wish to receive.  It helps a little if you have the catalogs handy for the customer numbers, but these #s are not necessary to complete the forms. One can also log on in the future to change/add preferences.   I'd put off doing this for about a year, not realizing how easy it was.  The companies promise to stop sending the catalogs within 90 days.  We'll see...

That's pretty handy! I have to walk down to the little building with all the boxes and mine fills up fast too. And I get stupid catalogs. I bought my sister knitting stuff for Christmas once and now I get a bunch of knitting catalogs. It's very annoying.

I am all for it. Everytime I order something on the telephone, I request that my name NOT be rented or sold to other companies. That helps. But it's when I forget to do that...it's like all hell breaks loose in my mailbox.

What a brilliant idea! We can register somewhere to prevent junk mail arriving, but if we've once enquired, or bought something from a company, then we can't stop the catalogues coming! We seem to get dozens every week! they are all sent for recycling, but its such a nuisance, packing them into big plastic bags, which are invariably too full!

Hi, Kathy. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving comments!
We do get some catalogs, but the real problem is all of the donation requests. How many address labels can we use?! Today out of eight pieces of mail, I kept one.

OK, I'm the different one here. I get a few catalogs and I enjoy looking at them. I rarely buy anything - quess you could say I'm window shopping.

The name labels are another matter. I get several sets every week. I only save the really pretty ones, and I have enough to last me several lifetimes.

Can you believe I don't get a single catalog? There's a reason for that. I don't order. A good thing.

Hope your day was glorious.
