I am a retired English teacher and department head, the mother of three, grand mother of three, and have been married to the same man for 42 years. I subscribe to Dr. PM Forni's concept of Civility. I was born in South Philadelphia and grew up in the 'burbs. I love soft pretzels and cheesesteaks, the Phillies, the Eagles, and San Diego. I love being Mom, Aunt Kathy, Nona Kathy, and Teacher. I spend a lot of time in my gardens in the spring and summer, and in the winter I plan what I'm going to plant. I also am an avid reader and photographer.

The Plants are Here!

Look what I found at the nursery.  Talk about full service! :)

A closer view -- just in the back of the car.

And on the car floor...

And riding shot gun...

I found almost everything.  Still need market packs of purple and coral salvia, and one thunbergia.  I've started planting and hope to be able to continue tomorrow as I'm babysitting for the cutie in the first photo and they're predicting rain for tomorrow night.  I'll  take another series of photos when I'm finished.

Happy planting and I will be looking forward to photos of the finished project.

I'm sure your little cutie will enjoy helping you. That should also make your work more interesting.

We came home with a trunk full of plants tyoday too, and we weren't even planning to shop for them. I was looking for one heuchera and we ended up with fancy leafed geraniuns - tri color variety, Wave petunias and a few other things. The geraniums are to replace those that failed in Tom's greenhouse. Tom planted up the petunias in a hanging basket. The tender stuff will live in the greenhouse until Mother's Day, as it is still to cold to put it out. And there will be more plant shopping before we are done.

Amazing what you find just sitting there in garden centres. We drove 4 hours to Ralph's orthopedic surgeon on tuesday, and when we were heading home, you'll never what was directly across the highway. A nursery!! Amazing how many lily bulbs you can fit in the trunk of a small car.

Did Dick make you vacuum the entire car after you unloaded? That's a comment from a guy's perspective! We miss you guys - and your flowers - but we'll see them in June!

It looks as if your plant-shopping expedition was very successful. You definitely have a great deal of work to do in your garden. I hope the weather cooperates for you. I've got a few more things that need to be planted as soon as the weather clears up.
