Kathy, the Red Nosed Pruner

Thank you for the prayers for Forrest.  He's had the surgery, is off the ventilator, and continues to improve.

Yesterday I woke up with a scratchy throat -- a tell tale sign that a cold was on the way.  Although I'm happy to say it's been a REALLY long time since I've had a cold, I really dreaded this harbinger knowing what comes next -- the coughing -- inability to sleep through the night because of post-nasal drip -- more like rush than drip.  So I'm babying myself for a bit -- lots of fluids, Zicam, Airborne, and no workout today.  Tomorrow, yes; today, no.

I might go outside and prune the remaining four rose bushes.  I hated cutting off  leafy growth, but I really think the bushes will be better for it.  I'm also taking a page from Betsy and George's book and planting hybrid teas in a few containers this year.  The garden plan is underway and I've made a few changes like the addition of a mandevilla and a trumpet flower.  Pictures to follow after planting.

Two nights ago, we booked a cruise that starts in Barcelona and goes to Provence, Corsica, Livorna, Rome, Naples, Sicily, Croatia, Slovenia, Ravenna and Venice.  We're very excited!  Our travel buddies, Margie and Dave, are going, and we may be joined by my brother and SIL.  The cruise isn't for a year so we have a lot of time to save up and also plan.

Oh, heaven about that cruise. I have a granddaughter in Barcelona. I have friends in those other cities too. And too, I am keeping your friend in my prayers.

I'm glad to hear that Forrest is doing better. That is definitely good news. Now we just need to get you over that cold.
The cruise you've booked sounds just wonderful. I know you'll enjoy it.
I hope your container roses do well. Ours are doing very well, in spite of a number of near freezing nights.

That cruise is awesome. Not for another year? I would wait about 11.5 months and then panic and start planning. ;-)

When I feel a cold coming on I stop right then and spend a days sleeping as much as I can. That usually helps a lot.

The cruise sounds like wonderful fun.

Spring time is no time for a cold. So much outdoor work to do. I hope your remedies stave this one off.

Great seeing you yesterday :)

Hi Kathy, Blogger ate my comment.... Grrrr... Anyhow--I was saying how sorry I am that you have a cold... They can make us feel pretty miserable, can't they??? Take Care!

Glad you are doing some Container Roses. You will LOVE them. Just be sure and keep them watered good. They dry out fast in the containers, which I'm sure you know.

WOW--that cruise sounds incredible... I'm so envious!!!!! You all will LOVE it.

Hugs,
Betsy

Good to know that Forrest is improving! Hope you feel better soon. I can never remember if it's *starve a cold and feed a fever* or visa versa. Looking forward to your photos from your gardens again this year.

Which cruise line are you going on? It sounds very exciting, and one I considered when thinking of this year's holiday. But no, we are going to the Arctic!
