This garden has continually gotten away from me and has been a real bane for the past 10 years. Well, no more! It's in flux right now and about half done. With a little help from a friend, I removed EVERYTHING, did a quick if not pedestrian plan, and started over. My laborer husband (I dig the holes, he's my 'on the ground guy' -- literally, down in the dirt) is replanting all the day lilies after separating them, replanting monarda (red and purple), and planting some echinacea that I started from seed. He's then broadcasting Preen and mulching. We'll place a stone path down the middle and eventually put a fountain in the center. We have to find one that we like. Yesterday, the two of us looked like a couple of mud runners from Hialeah!
If you don't hear from me for a while or see a suspicious mound in my yard, you'll know that the supervisor/laborer thing didn't go very well. Call 911.

LOL :) well hopefully it all goes to plan! I cant wait to see the finished garden! Sounds lovely.
I certainly hope no suspicious mounds show up in your garden. I bet the end result will be worth the effort. Can't wait to see 'after' pictures.
This is your "Before"??? I'd be happy with that as an "After." Because of all the goings-on this spring, our house is upside down and so is our yard. I hope to get things somewhat sorted out this weekend. I don't do chaos well.
Can't wait to see it when it's done. Play nice in the mud!
So much work but I'm sure it will be beautiful. I already thought everything looked beautiful!!
Hey...I have that same laborer here! Had him out pouring a little concrete today to put in my new mailbox. I don't really supervise, it's more like a little whine here and a little suggestion there...he sees through it for what it really is (nagging) but overall it's working out! I'm sure it does for you, too!
The garden is looking very nice, looking forward to seeing the pics when you have it all completed just the way you want it.
I doubt they'll be any suspicious mounds but hopefully, if one is sighted and you are nowhere to be found, 911 it shall be.
Enjoy :)
If you get nostalgic for the weeds, let me know and I'll send you a few. Okay, a million.
I know how much work a large garden requires, but I'm sure the result will be beautiful. I do hope, however, that you don't face a rebellion from the laborer.
You're cute!
Oh to have help. Does your laborer do side jobs?
Kidding.
