Belated But Yummy

We had a milestone here last Sunday.  Big Guy made me a birthday cake -- his first cake.  It turned out phenomenally better than this photo.  Sorry about the focus, but I had to share the photo -- (we weren't sharing the cake!)  :)  I did act as prep chef completing the mis en place, but he did the rest, including frosting this baby!!

I am quite impressed. Now that you've taught him so well, he can just keep on baking.

That is quite impressive! My husband can make waffles. That's it...waffles. If I die, he will have to survive on them and them alone. Maybe if we both pull a Thelma and Louise our husbands could share an apartment and LT would at least have chocolate cake and waffles.

Happy Birthday - that looks good enough to eat. I, personally, can't imagine my hubby baking me a cake (though he's a great guy). You're a lucky Gal!

I'm an excellent cook but a lousy baker, and I admire anyone who can create a yummy cake that doesn't need frosting to hide its deficiencies. Happy birthday, and congratulations to The Big Baker!

Happy belated birthday Kathy. So sweet that your husband made you a cake!
Reminded me of when my husband made me a cake to mark my retirement. When he brought it into the diningroom he proudly told me that he even brushed the crumbs off the sides before frosting it! Broke my heart :)
