Apples and Gas

Apple's reported earnings for 2011 were a roughly a healthy 24 billion dollars.  It's my understanding that first quarter earnings for this year are even more robust.  Foxconn, who runs the factories in Taiwan and China and manufactures not only for Apple, but for Microsoft and others, employs thousands.  My question?  Hey Apple!!!  Why not bring home the work and employ Americans?  So you make a profit of 12 billion; would that kill you?

And while I'm on the subject of a killing -- I understand that oil companies are in business to make a profit.  I also understand that comparatively, oil/gasoline prices in the US are substantially lower than they are in Europe and have been for some time.  I also understand that becoming more independent of foreign oil is going to cost us.  However, when the oil companies enjoy absolutely obscene (and I mean obscene is every sense of that word) profits and yet continue to raise the price of oil resulting in a stab in our wobbling economy; it's just immoral.  What to do?  I have not a clue as they've got us by the proverbial short hairs.

If new underwear is involved, you're bound to have fun! I'm getting used to the new dashboard. Change (I hear) is good for brain cells. But, also sometimes a pain.

I agree with your sentiments on both Apple and big oil. Shaking my head here.

Oil prices here are ridiculous! Don't aim to drive in the UK - too expensive!

Just read your post about the cruise. Holland America has a very good reputation. We are going P&O in just under 3 weeks. We must exchange experiences when we get back!

Well said. I agree with you.

You'd think giving companies tax breaks to hire Americans here at home rather than tax breaks to move production overseas would be a good thing. But, I guess not.

Everything is all messed up and I don't see it getting any better anytime soon.

I'm just so grateful that my husband got a job after that long job hunt. And yes they do.
