God grant me the Serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change,
the Courage
to change the things
I can, and
the Wisdom to know
the difference,
I've decided in the hope of maintaining sanity and some peace, I will take the following measures:
I am "Ground Zero". I will be cognizant of the needs of others; purposefully instigating kindness and compassion wherever I can and will eschew recognition for such. In other words, doing good for the Heaven of it. All it takes is one light; one person.
I will ignore all mention of things political -- namely anything involving the candidate for the next four years. Any mention of that man's name, or that of his family, will be blocked. Kind of like Voldemort in Harry Potter -- "He who must not be named". His name, antics, family will not be spoken of in this house. He is anathema to me.
I will work quietly and definitely for the greater good, supporting those individuals and agencies that provide relief and quality of life for others both nationally and worldwide.
I will pray for our evolution from this myopic, ego-centered, hypocritical, and ignorant society to one that recognizes goodness, decency, and worth in all of us.

This sounds like an excellent plan. Who knows? The nameless shameless one may evolve a little.
I LOVE this, Kathy. I love the idea of calling you-know-who "He who must not be named." Peeerrrrfect! I shall try to follow your example.
We are all trying to find our way in dealing with the political state of affairs we find ourselves in. Your way has a lot of merit. I hope it works for you and gives you hope and peace.
HI Kathy! New to your blog.
On the subject, I keep going back and forth. I don't want to not stand up for what I believe in, but I have to keep my sanity and hope alive, and they might be oxymorons... Nice blog, and I'm bookmarking you. Have a love holiday!
Yes, take care of yourself and your own mind. We all have to stay whole. But, if you get the energy, there are lots of ways to resist the tide that threatens our real freedom. Just by saying "I don't agree with that." or "That makes me very uncomfortable." is a start. Saying it our loud or on-line, or in a letter to an editor or Congressman. Or telling the ACLU, or any other active organization that you're with them, even if you sent $3.
Being silent can be dangerous. Sorry to shake your denial.
Great post! I've not been making the rounds for a while. Things got busy and crazy and ... I don't know.
I am trying to avoid conflict with family, all the while trying to stay active and let like minded souls know what they can do to help. There is a cartoon circling that says something about the need to stay informed being at odds with the need for staying sane. I relate.
I hope you are well.
Many blessing and much peace to you.
It always makes me happy to know that someone I admire, is on the right side of history.
Haven't been on here in a long time. Good to see you are still blogging.

That's it. :) I have an artist friend who just paints whenever politics comes up.
