Fashion?

I know 'hate' is a strong word, and I try avoiding using it, but the only other word I can think of to describe fashion policings of award shows is 'loathesome.' I know; not much of a difference. Who elects these commentators and on what are they basing their opinions? Years of training? Advanced fashion degrees? I like to look at the photos of the lovely gowns -- things I'll never wear or have an occasion to wear them to -- and they all look nice. Some are not to my taste, but I wouldn't totally trash them in a public statement or embarrass the wearer. I certainly don't have a strong need to make a statement about them; these are just clothes people decided to wear.
Are we that bored with our lives that something this trivial becomes so important? Do these judges of fashion do anything else like read literature or volunteer their time to help others? Does that man Blackwell have another job besides publishing a list each year of those who are fashionable and those who have sinned against his sense of couture? At least on the TV Guide channel, I can mute what they're saying.

Hmmm, your second post about awards shows. I thought you weren't going to watch them anymore. I missed the critique you're describing, but I'm sure the fashion police had wicked fun with it. At the expense of the people wearing the clothes. Petty people that like to bully.
